Find out more about PSD at The Bee Hive.

Teachers at The Bee Hive take positive measures to help students understand all aspects of their health including their relationships and sexuality and how this relates to their lives now and in the future.

The purpose of the PSD programme at The Bee Hive is to provide knowledge and understanding so that our young people can learn about themselves and others, their bodies and their feelings.  It includes:

  • Relationships with others and good communication skills
  • Appropriate behaviour and keeping safe
  • Domestic violence, sexual exploitation and abusive behaviours
  • Sexual behaviour, sexual health, pregnancy and parenthood
  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Health and hygiene

All teaching materials are appropriate to the age and emotional maturity of our students and the teachers will present the programme in an objective, balanced and sensitive manner.  Any assessment tools used are appropriate for use with young people with learning disabilities.

Parents are very pleased with the progress their children make. They comment on the excellent progress their children have made in their academic work and personal skills…
