Safeguarding and e-safety statement

Northgate School Arts College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  We expect all staff, volunteers, governors and visitors on site to share this commitment.

We are all fully committed to ensuring that our approach to safeguarding practices are fully effective and in line with local and national guidance. This means that staff are trained annually, and those with greater individual responsibility for leading Safeguarding are trained to the same standard as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).  Our Heads of school and The Bee Hive are very qualified and experienced Senior Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (Senior DDSLs). The rest of the Safeguarding Team are also well-qualified, and are referred to as the academy’s Designated Safeguarding Officers (DSOs).

The DSL

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Miss Sheralee Webb (Executive Headteacher). Miss Webb oversees Safeguarding and Child Protection matters across both sites.

Senior DDSLs

Our Senior Deputy DSL Mrs Francesca Shears  (Head of School at Northgate and The Bee Hive) manages the day-to-day implementation of our Safeguarding Policy.

DSOs

Designated Safeguarding (DSOs) also support and oversee the day-to-day safeguarding and welfare of pupils; they are:

All concerns regarding welfare and safeguarding are passed through members of staff to the DSL, Senior DDSLs and/or DSOs, in compliance with the most recent local and national guidance.
