Welfare Information

The Medical & Welfare Team are available at school every day to support the students and staff. There are six members of the team, and we work together at school to provide the medical, hygiene and welfare needs of some of the students/young people to enable them to access their education when they are at School.

We work in partnership with various therapists, for example:

  • Physiotherapists/Hydro therapist
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Children and Young Peoples
  • Nurse (School Nurse)
  • School Doctors
  • Social Care
  • Community Teams

 Medical absences

Sometimes absence through illness or medical appointments is unavoidable. We do ask that wherever possible medical appointments are arranged for out of school times but we understand that this is not always possible. It is important that parents inform us in advance as all absences are checked on a daily basis and we do not want to bother you in these circumstances.

Parents are sometimes not sure whether a child should be kept at home if they are suffering from certain symptoms or conditions. The NHS have updated advice for parents.
