Hydrotherapy

The Hydrotherapy suite is used by the public and students. The pool can be booked by contacting Telephone number 01604 714098 or 777820 (Terms and conditions for hire).

Hydrotherapy at The Bee Hive incorporates specific physiotherapy treatments within a specially heated pool. Appropriate programs are designed for each individual young person’s needs using assessments, diagnosis and clinical reasoning.

We combine pool based physiotherapy treatment techniques and specifically designed exercises. These are supervised by our Sports Physiotherapist and Medical team to regain, enhance and rehabilitate physical needs and well-being in a warm relaxing environment.

Due to the buoyancy of the water, hydrotherapy allows the young people to exercise with a higher rate of freedom compared to that of land based activities and is distinct from swimming or aqua-aerobics. Therapeutic exercises can be progressed safely using the resistance of the water to strengthen the muscles and improve stability.

The movements practised in the pool can be transferred to everyday life as muscles become more accustomed to exercise and messages between the body and the brain develop.
